Saskatoon Berry Strudel
Ingredients:
3 frozen patty shells
3 cups Saskatoon Berry pie filling
3 tablespoons melted butter
1 tablespoon ground almond
coarse sugar granules
Method:
Press edges of patty shell together; roll out on floured cloth
to 18x14-inch rectangle. In a tea cup, combine melted butter and
ground almond. Place pie filling evenly along side of rectangle,
about 4 inches from edge. Without stretching, carefully fold the
4 inch piece of dough over the filling. Pick up the cloth, making
the dough roll forward into a tight roll. Seal ends. Place on a
foil-lined baking sheet; curve strudel, forming a crescent or
horseshoe shape. Brush on almond-butter mixture over the top of
strudel. Lightly sprinkle the sugar granules over the strudel.
Bake in 350° oven for 45 to 50 minutes. Remove from sheet;
cool on rack. Makes 6 servings.
